Abstract

The convergence of Information Systems (IS) with Business Process Management (BPM) signifies a crucial intersection between technological infrastructure and business strategy within organizations. As companies embark on digital transformation journeys, the integration of IS into BPM has become a pivotal factor in enhancing operational efficiency, enabling data-informed decision-making, and ensuring strategic coherence. This research paper delves into the theoretical underpinnings, empirical findings, and practical ramifications of IS integration within BPM contexts. We conduct an extensive review of existing literature, outline a comprehensive methodology, analyze data on integration outcomes, present results that underscore performance impacts, and engage in discussions on strategic alignment. Our findings suggest that integrating IS can optimize operational processes, eliminate redundancies, speed up cycle times, and align organizational goals with competitive strategies. Strategic alignment boosts an organization’s ability to adapt to market changes and supports sustainable growth over the long term. The article concludes by offering actionable insights for scholars and practitioners seeking to implement successful IS–BPM integration. Achieving effective IS–BPM integration necessitates a deep understanding of both technological capabilities and business process needs. Organizations should encourage cross-functional collaboration to ensure IS solutions are customized to meet specific process objectives. Furthermore, ongoing monitoring and evaluation are crucial to adjusting integration strategies in response to changing business landscapes.
